Pancreatitis: Initial CT
Case Discussion:
Acute pancreatitis is shown on the initial CT with pancreatic oedema and fluid tracking within the anterior pararenal space. This is subsequently complicated 3 weeks later by a large collection with areas of haemorrhage.
This peripancreatic collection is not to be confused with pseudocyst, which occurs later than 4 weeks following pancreatitis and is more uniformly round.
