Papillary carcinoma thyroid

Case contributed by: Dr Garth Kruger

Presentation:

52 year old male mass thyroid

Patient Data:

Age: 52
Gender: Male

Case Discussion:

There are two ultrasound criteria here causing concern:

1. The lesion is tall as broad

2. the lesion has no lucent surrounding "halo". The halo is an important ultrasound indicator of a likely benign lesion. The converse is true as well.

This was a confirmed papillary carcinoma thyroid.
