Presentation

The patient arrived by ambulance following a motor vehicle accident.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

There is a comminuted distal tibial fracture extending into the tibial plafond, representing a Pilon fracture. There are also associated fractures of the talar dome and tip of the lateral malleolus.

Features of impaction are consistent with an axial loading mechanism, which is typically associated with this type of injury.
