The left posterior communicating artery (LPCOA) was enlarged and displayed an aneurysm-like expansion. Furthermore, the LPCOA was distorted, prolonged, and contiguous with the basilar artery, appearing as a loose coil-like loop.

The LPCOA did not communicate with veins either through the vascular network/nest or directly.

Additionally, there is an aneurysm-like expansion in the left MCA, M1 segment.

Case Discussion

Pure arterial malformation is a rare type of cerebrovascular disease characterized by a mass of arterial loops with a coil-like appearance. This condition is defined as the presence of dilated, overlapping, and tortuous arteries without any venous components. It may also be associated with calcification or local aneurysms 1,2. This is the typical location and demographic for this unusual lesion.
