Right upper lobe consolidation

Presentation

One week of lethargy, myalgias, dyspnea and chest tightness. Febrile to 38.0.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

There is consolidation within the postero-inferior aspect of the right upper lobe immediately abutting the horizontal fissure and posterior aspect of the right oblique fissure. No internal cavitation. The remainder of the lungs are clear. No pleural effusions. Heart size is normal.

Given the clinical details, this consolidation likely represents infective change.
