Sebaceous cyst of the breast

Case contributed by: Dr Roberto Schubert

Presentation:

The patient had a palpable mass in the inner lower quadrant of her right breast, that had been known to her for years. There was a slight bulging and hyperpigmentation of the skin in that region.

Patient Data:

Age: 48
Gender: Female
Race: Caucasian
Modality: Ultrasound

Case Discussion:

The 3.5 x 2.2 cm lesion showed smooth margins, lateral acoustic shadowing, and dorsal acoustic enhancement, similar to a fibroadenoma, but with more heterogeneous content. The clue to the diagnosis is  the partly intracutaneous location.
