Severe uneven decreased bone density with cortical thinning. Widespread areas of lucency in both lower limbs are present with resulting deformities.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates severe osteoporosis in a patient with end-stage renal disease and long-standing hemodialysis. Patients with end-stage renal disease are susceptible to a constellation of skeletal abnormalities related to renal osteodystrophy, as well as osteopaenia1. Fracture rate is also higher in patients undergoing dialysis.
