Sjogren's syndrome (probable)

Case contributed by: Brendan Cullinane

Presentation:

A 55 yo female patient was referred to investigate swelling over the right parotid gland. Questioning of the patient revealed she had dryness of the mouth and eyes.

Modality: Ultrasound

Case Discussion:

Multiple, small, hypoechoic nodules are diffusely spread throughout each salivary gland. Changes seemed to be more prominent on the right. In light of the symptoms, these findings suggest Sjogren's syndrome. No regional lymphadenopathy was demonstrated (not shown)
