Magnetic resonance imaging shows a marked edema in the distal aspect of the fibula

Case Discussion

This is consistent with a stress fracture. It is important to realize that radiological changes are late, and often the typical appearances cannot be seen before four weeks so MRI is the modality of choice for suspected stress fracture.

This stress fracture of the fibula is seen especially in athletes runners patients.
