Subdural empyema is an extra-axial intracranial collection that accounts for 20-33% of the intracranial infectious processes1.

The most common cause is sinusitis, which is causing a severe condition which needs emergency intervention. Empyema is less common in the post-traumatic patient due to secondary infection as well as a postsurgical infection which has a mild clinical course1.
