Case contributed by Fakhry Mahmoud Ebouda
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Right hypochondrial pain for two days.

Patient Data

Age: 37 years
Gender: Male

Ultrasound of the region of interest.

CT without and with contrast.

Dilated inflamed appendix.

Case Discussion

Subhepatic appendicitis may clinically mimic cholecysitis. US and CT help in differentiation.

An appendicolith is calcified debris within the appendix, and a risk factor for appendicitis. An appendicolith gives an acoustic shadow at ultrasound.

The case is courtesy of Dr/ Leila Zitouni, Consultant Radiology and Dr/ Bashar Raad, Surgery Consultant,  RCMC.
