Supracondylar fracture - minimally displaced

Case contributed by: Dr Frank Gaillard

Presentation:

Fall. Now painful elbow.

Patient Data:

Age: 6 years
Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian

Elbow x-rays

Modality: X-ray

Minimally posteriorly angulated supracondylar fracture. Anterior humeral line no longer intersects the capitellum.

Case Discussion:

Supracondylar fracture with minimal posterior angulation. Note how a line drawn along the anterior border of the humerus does not intersect the mid-third of the capitellum. This makes it a type IIA fracture.
