Syringomyelia to pleural shunt

Case contributed by Jayanth Keshavamurthy
Diagnosis not applicable

Presentation

50 year old female had a chest X ray for uveitis. What is this tubing on the chest. If there is history of Chiari I malformation and sub occipital craniectomy will it help in making the diagnosis?

Patient Data

Age: 50
Gender: Female

Chest X-ray

x-ray

The tube is ending in the right pleura. The tubing is smaller in caliber.

Cervical spine MRI had previously shown a Chiari I malformation, surgery for it with suboccipital craniectomy and the proximal tip is in the cervical spinal cord syrinx. There is also anterior cervical spinal fusion hardware.
