Presentation

Severe pain non weight bearing after collision with large dog

Patient Data

Gender: Male
Modality: X-ray

Fracture of lateral tibial plateau.

Modality: CT

Large lipohaemarthrosis. Comminuted fracture of the lateral tibial plateau which appears to extend into the intercondylar spines. The main lateral tibial plateau fragments are depressed by at least 5 mm and there is a gap which is wider anteriorly than posteriorly. There is an associated fracture of the fibular/head neck junction.

Case Discussion

Conclusion: comminuted combined cleavage and compression fracture of the lateral tibial plateau with associated fracture of the fibular head/neck region.
