Presentation
Pre operative check up. The patient is a donor for renal transplantation
Patient Data
Plain film reveals depressed left diaphragmatic copula. CT images show the abnormal location of the spleen at the pelvic cavity above the urinary bladder, anterior and superior to the uterus with stretched splenic artery and vein
Case Discussion
Wandering spleen occurs due to a defect in the formation of the lienorenal ligament, the most stabilizer of splenic position which allows for abnormal mobility of the spleen with long splenic vascular pedicle. Due to the position of the spleen and long pedicle, it is more liable for trauma and torsion.
