Zabramski classification of cerebral cavernous malformations

Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis not applicable

Collage of cases depicting the four types of cerebral cavernous malformations, as classified by Zabramski in 1994, using T1 and T2 appearance 1

Case Discussion

The four cases used are:

  • type 1: Mostafa Mahmoud El Feky rID:42367
  • type 2: Frank Gaillard rID:29400
  • type 3: Frank Gaillard rID:13743
  • type 4: Frank Gaillard rID:46171 *

Note, type type 4 case has no T1 image, so it has been borrowed from another case, and the "gradient echo" image is actually an SWI image, which strictly speaking is not correct; SWI was not around in 1994 and was thus not included in the classification.
