CyberKnife

Last revised by Andrew Murphy on 23 Mar 2023

CyberKnife is a stereotactic radiotherapy system which uses a compact linear accelerator mounted on a robotic arm, coupled with a digital x-ray image guidance system. The robotic arm allows movement with many degrees of freedom compared to typical linear accelerators which only rotate around the central axis. CyberKnife is used for intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery as well as stereotactic body radiotherapy (unlike the Gamma Knife system which is solely used for intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery).
