Triad of Rigler
Rigler's triad

Rigler triad consists of three findings seen in gallstone ileus:

pneumobilia
small bowel obstruction
ectopic calcified gallstone, usually in the right iliac fossa

History and etymology

It is named after Leo George Rigler, American radiologist (1896-1979) ¹.

Practical points

Rigler triad should not be confused with Rigler sign, the Rigler notch sign, or Hoffman-Rigler sign.
