Anterior cervical angle

Last revised by Henry Knipe on 20 Mar 2020

The anterior cervical angle is a novel ultrasound parameter that is being used as a predictor of spontaneous preterm birth.

Measurement

The angle between the uterine wall and the cervical canal is measured during the first and the second trimester by a transvaginal ultrasound. It is measured using a line that starts from the internal cervical os (that is extended along the cervical canal) and a second line that tracks the internal segment of the anterior uterine wall.
