Recall bias refers to systematic error created by inaccuracies in the relevant memories of study participants. This bias is closely related and similar to reporting bias, but implies no intentional suppression of the past events. Recall bias is often a problem in case-control studies as participants who whom a disease happened are more likely to remember exposures to risk factors.
