There are numerous named and unnamed accessory ossicles of the lower limb. These include:
- ossicles of the hip
- ossicles of the knee
- ossicles of the foot
Practical points
Although accessory ossicles are often reported as 'normal anatomic variants' (or similar) it is important to recognize that they are not always just an incidental pick-up but may be the source of the patient's symptoms.
