The angular artery (branch of the middle cerebral artery (MCA)) is an M4 branch of the middle cerebral artery (it is not the same as the facial artery angular artery branch).
The artery arises from the posterior part of the Sylvian fissure and runs posteriorly. On lateral angiogram it forms a downward concave curve while traversing Heschl's transverse gyrus.
The angular artery usually supplies the angular and supramarginal gyri, but may provide some branches to the parietal and temporo-occipital areas.
