There are three anterior knee fat pads 1:

infrapatellar fat pad (of Hoffa)
- fills the space between the patella ligament and the anterior intercondylar area of the tibia 2
- posterior suprapatellar (prefemoral or supratrochlear) fat pad

anterior suprapatellar (quadriceps) fat pad
- fills the space between the suprapatellar recess and the quadriceps tendon 3
