The articularis cubiti muscle lies in the posterior compartment of the arm:

  • origin: posterior surface of the distal humerus
  • insertion: posterior surface of the elbow joint capsule
  • innervation: radial nerve
  • action: tenses the posterior elbow joint capsule during elbow extension
