Bálint syndrome

Bálint syndrome is characterized by:

  1. simultanagnosia (inability to perceive more than one object at a time)
  2. optic ataxia (poor visual-motor coordination)
  3. oculomotor apraxia (loss of voluntary but not reflex eye movements)

It typically results from damage to the parieto-occipital regions, and has been associated with 1-3:

First described by Rezső Bálint (1874–1929), Hungarian neurologist-psychiatrist, in 1909 4.
