Calcaneal vascular remnant
Calcaneal vascular remnant is a benign finding that may be seen on MRI of ankle and can be misinterpreted as an alarming bone lesion. It is typically located at the insertion site of sinus tarsi ligaments (cervical and interosseous ligaments).
The focus of signal alteration is believed to be prominent vascular remnant in the calcaneus and has been correlated with cadaveric study 1.
T2 hyperintense and T1 hypointense focus of signal is seen at insertion site of sinus tarsi ligaments.
