Calcinosis circumscripta is a condition involving calcium deposition in the skin and subcutaneous tissues predominantly around joints and extremities 6. It is considered a localized form of calcinosis cutis most often seen in the hands and feet.

Clinical presentation
Patients present with firm white dermal papules, plaques or subcutaneous nodules which are found in varying distribution. They can ulcerate and extrude a chalky white material.
Classically, women are affected in up to 80% of cases.
Pathology
Etiology
Although most cases are idiopathic there is an association with Raynaud syndrome, scleroderma or dermatomyositis in up to 40% of cases.
Radiographic features
Fine clustered calcifications are seen, usually around the finger and toe tips. If there is an associated underlying collagen vascular disease findings of soft tissue swelling and joint arthropathy may be present.
