Cerebral varix

Last revised by Mostafa Elfeky on 12 Dec 2023

Cerebral varices, also known as cerebral venous aneurysms or isolated cerebral varices are uncommon cerebral vascular malformations, only rarely found in isolation, hence the name isolated cerebral varix. They are more commonly encountered in association with other vascular malformations, such as dural arteriovenous fistula and developmental venous anomaly 1.

Most of them are clinically silent and found incidentally 2.

They are described as focal dilatation of a single vein, with no neural tissue or other vessel anomalies.
