Cholecystitis refers to any form of inflammation involving the gallbladder and has many forms including:
- acute cholecystitis
- chronic cholecystitis
- emphysematous cholecystitis
- suppurative cholecystitis (gallbladder empyema)
- xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis
Its epidemiology, clinical presentation, pathology and radiographic features are dependent on the actual etiology.
