Cinderella is a term used in medicine and the wider biological sciences to refer to entities that have been neglected. This may include specialties, subspecialities, techniques, diseases, micro-organisms, and indeed actually almost anything 1,2!
History and etymology
Cinderella is the classic Western fairy tale in which a neglected girl overcomes poor circumstances to become a princess 1,2.
