Copy editor

Last revised by Henry Knipe on 13 Mar 2025

The copy editor is a key Radiopaedia editorial team member responsible for ensuring that submitted cases and articles are clear, accurate, readable, and aligned with Radiopaedia’s style guide.

The copy editor reviews newly submitted cases to ensure they adhere to Radiopaedia’s style guidelines before they reach the editorial board for peer review. By handling the style review, they ensure all cases follow Radiopaedia’s case publishing guidelines and style guide. Their responsibilities include:

  • reviewing spelling, grammar, and clarity

  • ensuring consistency in formatting and language

  • checking for patient confidentiality, copyright, and plagiarism concerns

  • making sure all references and citations follow Radiopaedia’s standard style guide

  • ensuring all required components of a case are present

  • assisting contributors in preparing their cases for peer review

  • collaborating with contributors and answering queries related to the style guide

By handling style-related aspects early in the process, the copy editor helps streamline the workflow, allowing moderators/editors to focus on assessing the medical accuracy and educational value of the case submissions.

The copy editor also participates in editorial projects, ensuring existing content follows the style guide.

NB The copy editor does not provide clinical input. Any case-related queries are addressed by the editorial board during peer review.
