Coronary artery calcification is a common incidental finding in asymptomatic patients having CT of the thorax for non-cardiac indications as well as being a significant finding in cardiac CT. Coronary artery calcification is a marker of atherosclerotic plaque burden and thus coronary artery disease risk. There are a number of scoring systems including 1-3:
