Cystic degeneration of benign prostatic hyperplasia

Cystic degeneration of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is one of the forms that a BPH nodule may present as. They are often located in the transition zone. They may have irregular shapes, can be of variable size and may contain hemorrhage or calcifications. Patients usually have symptoms of urinary obstruction due to background benign prostatic hyperplasia.
