Degloving injury

Degloving is a term for a severe injury in which the skin and underlying tissues are forcefully separated from the underlying structures, resembling the removal of a glove from the hand.

The term "degloving" originated in the medical field and is derived from the combination of two distinct words: "de-" and "glove." The origin and earliest use of the term in the medical literature is uncertain but dates back at least as far as 1920s 4.
