Dural sinus occlusive disease
- severe headaches
- high fevers
- sixth nerve palsy - due to involvement of Dorello's canal
- altered conscious state
The diagnosis can be difficult to make, even with MRI, due to the frequent artefacts of flow, and the enhancement of the thickened dura mater and also potentially of the clot itself. However, the demonstration of normal flow in the dural venous sinus essentially excludes the diagnosis.
