Friedrich disease is an eponymous name for osteonecrosis of the sternal end of the clavicle. It is a rare condition and documentation in the medical literature is scarce.
It is more often encountered in children and adolescents 1.
Radiograph and CT
Diffuse sclerosis of the clavicular head of the clavicle is the main finding 1. A central notch-like defect in the center of sternoclavicular articulation has also been described 1.
It appears to be mostly a self-limited condition that is autoresolutive and responds to conservative treatment.
