Granulomatous bronchiolitides

Granulomatous bronchiolitis is a pathological type of bronchiolitis (not an imaging classification) characterized by an underling granulomatous reaction involving the small airways (bronchioles).

Pathology

It is grouped as form of cellular bronchiolitis ¹

Etiology

It may be associated with a number of causes which include

pulmonary tuberculosis ¹
pulmonary non-tuberculous mycobacterial infection ¹
pulmonary sarcoidosis ¹
hypersensitivity pneumonitis ¹
pulmonary manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease ²
- pulmonary manifestations of Crohn disease ^2,4,5
- pulmonary manifestations of ulcerative colitis
certain aspiration situations ³
- psyllium aspiration
as a non-infectious complication of common variable immune deficiency (CVID)
- granulomatous-lymphocytic interstitial lung disease ¹
