The hand is part of the upper limb below the forearm and wrist. In the supinated anatomical position, the palm is facing anteriorly. The bones of the hand are:

carpals (8)
- scaphoid
- lunate
- triquetrum
- pisiform
- trapezium
- trapezoid
- capitate
- hamate
metacarpals (5)
phalanges (13)
- thumb
  - proximal and distal phalanges
- 2nd to 5th fingers
  - proximal, middle and distal phalanges

The wrist joint is superior. Hand movement is complex and occurs across many joints, including those involved in wrist flexion.
