Ice cream cone sign (disambiguation)

The ice cream cone sign may refer to:

  1. the appearance of the head of malleus and the body and short process of the incus on axial CT scan: failure of this normal configuration suggests incudomalleolar dysarticulation
    • the ball of the ice cream is formed by the head of the malleus and cone is formed by the body of the incus, with the tapering conical point formed by the short process pointing towards the aditus ad antrum
    • the space between the "ice cream cone" and the scutum is called "Prussak's space"
  2. a medium-sized (1.5 to 3.0 cm) acoustic schwannoma: typical appearance, with the intracanalicular component representing "the cone" and the cerebellopontine angle (CPA) component representing the "ice cream"
