Iselin disease

Iselins disease is defined as apophysitis of base of 5th metatarsal . Most common in sport injuries . Most commonly seen in males. It is benign and self limiting condition .


Due to repetitive traction of peroneus brevis tendon at the site of its attachment . Predisposing factors are jumping , running

Radiographic findings

Obliquely oriented small bony fleck is noted at the base of 5th metatarsal . Best seen on oblique radiograph . Apophyseal irregularity is noted

Differential diagnosis

Normal apophysis

Accessory ossicle
