Body was changed:

The lateral marginal vein (LMV) is one of two known persisting embryonic veins (PEV) of the leg, the persistent sciatic vein (PSV) being the other.

It may also be referred to as "vein of Servelle" or "Kllppel-Trenaunay vein", as the nomenclature is confusing.

As embryonic vein it usually undergoes regression before birth.

Understanding of its pathogenesis is limited, however, It is apart of the superficial venous system. Failure of obliteration leads to truncal vascular malformation

It is seen in a portion of patients suffering from Klippel Trenaunay syndrome
