The left marginal vein also known as the left obtuse marginal vein is one of the tributary veins of the coronary sinus and belongs to the greater coronary venous system.
Gross anatomy
Located on the lateral wall of the left ventricle, usually courses along with the obtuse marginal branch of the circumflex artery, draining into the great cardiac vein. It drains the lateral wall of the left ventricle 1,2.
Variant anatomy
The left marginal vein is present in ~85%. It usually drains into the great cardiac vein and less commonly directly into the coronary sinus (~20%) 1,3.
