Anatomy

The lesser palatine artery is a small branch of the descending palatine artery (branch of the 3rd part of the maxillary artery). The vessel supplies the soft palate with small branches to the palatine tonsils ^1,2. The vessel emerges through the lesser palatine foramen before traveling posterior towards the soft palate ¹.
