Lexica

A lexicon (plural: lexicons or lexica) usually refers to the specific vocabulary of a specific occupation or area of study although technically it can refer to the vocabulary of any group of people. Various organizations ² have projects similar to RadLex which have sought to codify and standardize the lexicon of radiologists or groups of them e.g. BI-RADS has a lexicon specific to mammography.

Practically speaking explicit and uniform lexicons facilitate communication among professionals and are a key element in natural language processing programs.
