Mnemonics for lucent/lytic rib lesions include:

  • FAME

These are just short lists for the possible causes of a lucent/lytic rib lesion. The list of lucent/lytic bone lesions is far longer. 


  • F: fibrous dysplasia
  • E: enchondroma
  • M: metastasis to bone/multiple myeloma
  • A: aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC)
  • L: lymphoma
  • E: eosinophilic granuloma
  • S: sarcoma
