Lumbosacral radiculoplexus neuropathy

Lumbosacral radiculoplexus neuropathy is a type of acute or subacute inflammatory neuropathy involving mainly the nerve roots of the lumbosacral nerve plexus 2. Diabetes mellitus is a major risk factor and in diabetics, this condition is called diabetic amyotrophy 3

Present as an asymmetrical debilitating pain mainly involving the proximal thigh with associated motor weakness and atrophy of muscle 1

There is acute or subacute inflammation of the nerve root and nerves causing a microvasculitis and ischemic nerve injury 2.  

Current evidence suggests early treatment with immunosuppressive agents gives symptomatic relief and slows down disease progression 1.
