LumiFlow

LumiFlow is a postprocessing technique for color or power Doppler ultrasound, which produces a relief-like visualization of the depicted vasculature.

Physics

Lumiflow can be applied to both color and power Doppler imaging. It applies a shading with an artifical light source to create a three-dimensional effect not unlike those used in CT volume rendering. LumiFlow can be used in real time. The shading results in more distinct appearance of blood vessels, and reduction of noise 1

Clinical use

LumiFlow is a relatively new technique, thus its benefits are less established. It has been shown to be effective in visualization of e.g. fetal brain vessels, though it can be applied to any other color/power Doppler image 1
