The increased globe size or macrophthalmia may have many differentials:
- buphthalmos (congenital glaucoma)
- axial myopia
- macrophthalmus in neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1)
- connective tissue disorders: Marfan syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
