Medial occipitotemporal gyrus

Last revised by Frank Gaillard on 27 Jul 2022

The medial occipitotemporal gyrus runs along the medial aspect of the temporal lobe and occipital lobe. It is formed by two gyri usually referred to separately; temporal (parahippocampal gyrus) and occipital (lingual gyrus). This is probably preferable to avoid confusion with the fusiform gyrus (also known as the temporo-occipital gyrus), which runs parallel and just lateral to the medial occipitotemporal gyrus, separated from it by the collateral sulcus 1.
