Meniscal fraying is a term given to an irregular edge of the meniscus (often of the thinner inner edge) without discrete tearing.
Radiographic features
MRI
The free edge may demonstrate loss of its sharp tapered central edge, and the posterior root ligaments may show subtle, ill-defined, horizontally oriented increased intrameniscal signal intensity contacting the articular surface 1.
